Lokamata Rani Rashmoni Mission was formed in the year 1988 and working in rural areas of South 24 Parganas district especially in Sundarban area and slums of south Kolkata. During our journey we worked with several Government Departments (Central /State) and organizations like UNDP-GEF, IUCN, Azim Premji Foundation, HCL Foundation, Centre of Environment Education, Wildlife Trust of India, Indian Oil Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Commission, etc. We are engaged in activities like, providing alternate livelihood, conservation of biodiversity, climate resilient agriculture, women empowerment, training & capacity building of unemployed rural youths & women, science popularization, health support, disaster relief, etc. We are working with rural women, farmers, youths, students, common people, scientists and researchers. We are working for all round development of rural community in the changing climatic situation with the active support and cooperation from local authority and community.
Most of our target landscapes are environmentally fragile and inhabitants are vulnerable in terms of socially and economically. We are working closely with our community partners to solve their problems as per their need and demand. We honor the traditional knowledge and practices of community partners and try to provide some scientific inputs for better solution.
We believe in 'Gram Swaraj' as defined by Gandhiji and dreaming to bring Gram Swaraj in Agriculture in few villsges of Sundarban which will become model for others.
We believe in quality work in small geographical area which may change the mentality of community and bring social changes.
We are requesting all of our well wishers and supporters kindly to guide us so that we may serve the community in a better and meaningful way.
